![]() ![]() There’s no doubt B&B, at almost 600 videos, is the longer resource to get through.Įach video averages between 10-15 minutes. Boards and Beyond Total Hours Vs Pathoma Total Hours Most med students will also tell you that B&B puts things into more of a clinical context while Pathoma goes into greater depth about pathology and histology etc. The bottom line is B&B is a much more expansive series than Pathoma but probably isn’t as succinct or as structured in its approach to teaching general and clinical pathology (one of the most high yield subjects on the USMLE). The list goes on ( check the site for a full list)… ![]() Cardiology (Dr Ryan, as a cardiologist, is perfectly placed here).Biochemistry (considered one of the best modules of B&B).Here’s what else B&B covers (in addition to pathology): B&B is much more comprehensive, featuring videos on most areas of a med school curriculum. Pathoma is laser focused on pathology only. Perhaps the biggest place Pathoma and B&B contrast is in content. Pathoma doesn’t work this way it’s text is intended more as a supplementary reference book you can cross reference with each video. This means you can annotate them as he talks and add all the things you find relevant. In the case of B&B, the slides are presented in a format clean of Dr Ryan’s “real-time” notes. While B&B refers to PDF-style lecture slides. Pathoma refers to a 218-page full color book (including the tables, images and structure used in the videos). This could help make your mind up if you’re in the position to only invest in one! Text Referencesĭiving head first into either resource, one of the first places you’ll see them differ is in their reference to respective texts. Pathoma Vs Boards and Beyond: What’s Different?Īfter we’ve soon how both resources might compare let’s look at how they differ. Annotating your book with points covered by the videos. You can also use both as references for concepts you learn in First Aid (another core material making up UFAPS) too. Both extract the high-yield points and both deliver the material in a very similar way (explanations, diagrams etc). There’s a fair amount of overlap between the two, specifically when it comes to pathology (the general focus of Pathoma). Neither particularly reinvents the wheel in this regard! Content The videos follow a lecture-style format (occasional real-time diagrams to illustrate points). There is a single narrator (Dr Hussein Sattar for Pathoma and Dr Ryan for B&B).In terms of video quality though both their styles are pretty similar: Clearly this is done for copyright reasons. You can’t download either Pathoma or B&B’s videos to take with you on the fly but rather have to stream them from behind a paywall (more on this later). The technical requirements of each are pretty much the same. Whether that be on a laptop, iPad, tablet or whatever else. Students pay for access and then watch either platforms’ lectures in their own time. The first obvious similarity between both resources, and one that’s a big reason for the debate, is that they’re both mainly video series. In the comics, he has a relationship with his half-brother, Gabriel, which often helps pull him back from the edge, at least until Gabriel was mistakenly assumed to be the Green Goblin of 2099. The Miguel we meet here is angrier than his already angry comic counterpart he’s never been an explicit villain in the books before. Most of these details are absent from Across the Spider-Verse, but there are enough hints to suggest his sordid past, like a shoulder injection of Rapture that he gets mid-film. He spends most of his time in 2099 fighting against Tyler Stone, the vice president of R&D at Alchemax and the person who tricked him into the accident that caused him to become Spider-Man. He also curses a lot using futuristic lingo like “What the shock!” So, it’s not all bad. He does have light-sensitive, red eyes that allow him to see in darkness and zoom in, plus vampire fangs. He maintains very few of the powers of the original Spider-Man, mostly the strength and agility, and doesn’t have a Spider-Sense. Why? To see the color settings there like saturation, contrast, and brightness, is such an amazing feature to have. With this, you're able to do things like change the rotation (even the X and Y rotation) to make it look really neat, change the opacity, add a reflection how large you want, add a shadow with features like angle, blur size, and opacity, and even full with the color settings. I was very impressed with this section in ScreenFlow.I would love to have ever single feature in the upper right hand section of ScreenFlow to be able to put in an action, but that could be a lot of work. This can be a pretty need effect to have and would love to see it in an update. When it comes to video actions, I was a little disappointed that you cannot change the gradient in the text (assuming you have a text box added in) with an action. And simple, you can also do lots of things with the audio too. Which basically means that you're able to animate your video, do transitions, and many other things in new ways. With ScreenFlow, you're able to do video actions. As you can see, transitions like melt is for sure ScreenFlow exclusive. ScreenFlow comes with bars swipe, copy machine, cross dissolve (a must-need), cube, dip to black (another must-need), dip to white, flash (which is quite cool), inner cube, melt, mod, page curl, paper, plane, ripple, spin, and swipe. In ScreenFlow, it doesn't come with many transitions, but they are very unique. Like any screen recording software, transitions is a need no matter what.It really packs a punch for how many things you can change up with your video. You really cannot beat all of the features ScreenFlow has. Of course in the left, you have the editing area and video preview. It's very powerful, but still quite organized. This is the main attraction of ScreenFlow. In this section, you can edit the video, audio, screen, callouts, text, and the media within your project. To the direct right, you have the "advanced" properties to edit your video. Some more useful things that people use a lot. I really wish they would of taken more use of this space maybe add in some buttons to add markers for example. To the left of that, you have the canvas button and to the right, the volume meter. Then in the main bar in the center, you have the play and the rewind & forward buttons. There on the timeline, it's nicely animated when deleting items it for sure adds a lot to the timeline. Then of course, you have the timeline very close the the bottom. In the very bottom, you have simply a slider to adjust the zoom of the timeline. The user interface of ScreenFlow is one of the best I've ever seen. The best way to review ScreenFlow would have to be to divide the review up into sections and like always, a video along with it. They've done a stellar job at making all these features easily acessable to the user even if their not computer savvy. In this case, the people over at Telestream was right on the money with ScreenFlow. In terms of combing the sleekest user interface I've ever seen in a screen recording software, it's sometimes hard to get the right amount of features. It's the best mainly for the fact that Telestream has done an excellant job with combining an user interface that's very easy to use and also very elegant looking (gotta love those graphics) with a powerful program that allows you to do advanced features but with still keeping that easy to use interface. ScreenFlow, by Telestream, is not a doubt the best screen recording software ever created for the Mac. One of the more popular options out there, is called ScreenFlow. When it comes to finding that perfect screen recording application for Mac OS X, there's for sure a variety of options to choose from. ![]() ![]() It is intended to provide information that can help you manage your well-being.
